We’ve been learning all about oceans and seas with stickers, books and toys. Mama isn’t great at all of those cool set-ups you see on Instagram and we don’t have a tuff tray so the wok had to do 😂but Incy loved it nonetheless.

MAKING AN ACTIVITY TRAY
Using a tray (or an old wok!) fill the bottom with water beads and add some aquatic themed items for your child to dig up and play oceans. Visit our sponsor @zensoryltd on Instagram for the water beads. (Use this code for 10% off: ZEN10 and quote “Incy” in the notes).
BOOKS
Two books for children to learn about the sea and aquatic life are :
- Steve, Terror of the Seas by Megan Brewis. It teaches kids (and adults!) about the role of pilot fish.
- Where the Sea Meets the Sky by @peterbently It’s a lovely story and so beautifully illustrated in her debut work by @riko.sekiguchi You will want to own a copy for the illustrations alone. The story is about Sophie the otter who asks her mother: what is at the place where the sea meets the sky? Her mother explains this is the horizon and that she can never reach it and must never try. Sophie doesn’t think it looks all that far away and when her mother is busy with dinner Sophie decides to try to get there by herself. Will she reach the horizon or will she become lost forever and never see her mother again?
These materials are a great way to teach children about the oceans and seas, learning through play.
