This years theme was Read to the Beat, music-themed inspiration for children to read over the summer. Six weeks is a long time to go without the encouragement that schools gives children to read, so initiatives like this are so helpful. As a parent, Mummy Appleseed also felt it was a way of remaining accountable for taking Incy to the library and ensuring she had a steady supply of new books to devour.
Thiis summer she discovered the series Izzy the Inventor
Written by Zanna Davidson, the series is aimed at age 5+ and is in the Early Reader category.
This humorous series will appeal to fans of Isadora Moon and The Naughtiest Unicorn.

Alongside numerous other books, Incy read two Izzy books during the summer. She laughed out loud and said she really enjoys these books, in particular the funny characters with their funny names (Prince Potato et al). There are lots of elements to appeal to children this age (about 5-10)
Unicorns, lots of nice illustrations, comedy and science experiments. In order to save the day, Izzy has to run experiments. In one emergency they desperately need snow and the book actually details how children can make snow with a step by step guide at the end of the book.
