An amazing initiative is currently running to encourage more children to read 📚 The Appleseed team love it! Incy has a personal example of the campaign’s tagline “whatever you’re into, read into it.” Even though she has been a bookworm since she was tiny, Incy’s older cousin has always hated reading and was put on a development programme at school to help him improve. He only ever read comic books occasionally. He remained a reluctant reader until Incy introduced him to @diaryofawimpykid . She loves those books herself!
One of the reasons these books are appealing to reluctant readers is because the text is broken up with plenty of cartoon-style illustrations. If your child feels overwhelmed with seeing too much text on a page then Wimpy Kid books are ideal. If your child loves comics these books are the next best thing. For every birthday, Christmas and Eid, Incy gifts her cousin a new Wimpy Kid book. He devours those books and is now a fan of reading. In just a year, his reading has improved hugely!
It’s a great example of how presenting children with something of interest will spark a love of reading. This is why we love the campaign’s tagline “Whatever you’re into, read into it.” It doesn’t matter what you read, as long as you are reading!Â
