What is the Summer Reading Challenge? See below1
2025
This year’s theme is the Story Garden.
Incy managed 20 books this summer around a very hectic summer of fun!

Presenting the award this year was a local MP and author and illustrator Kev Payne ran another brilliant workshop – where he asked Incy to read one of her poems too!

Even Sweep received a medal of his very own, for reading with Incy! Sausage-brain indeed. I’ll bet Richard will be surprised!

2024
This was Incy’s first year taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge and whilst the minimum is 6 books, Incy managed a whoppping 15 books this summer! She received a medal from the Mayor.
- What is the Summer Reading Challenge?
Each year, the Reading Agency holds a Summer Reading Challenge, in partnership with public libraries. The challenge runs from 21 June – 30 September and is aimed at children. You can take part at the library or online. If you sign up at the library you can usually also collect a certificate and medal too. These can be collected from library staff as soon as you complete the challenge or at a ceremony held in September.
Incy loves to use the Summer Reading Challenge website and play games on it too, you can find the link to the games here.
Without the structure of school, reading can slip away for some children over the summer holidays. Setting a challenge keeps them motivated and the sense of accomplishment really builds self-esteem and strengthens literary confidence. ↩︎
