Incy attended a fantastic workshop recently with author, poet and illustrator Kevin (usually referred to as Kev) Payne. In addition to speaking of his new book Kev engaged the children in storytelling, a musical performance and a drawing session.
The featured image shows Incy holding Kev’s latest book Is That My Hat?, which Kev kindly signed. The book features an adorable character (Mole) trying several hats but they all prove to be problematic until, finally, he finds the perfect hat – but there’s a twist on how he achieves that! You can read a review of this book, coming soon to Incy Appleseed.com.
You can buy the book by clicking the red Buy this Book link below.
Two of Incy’s outside of school friends were also there and Kev engaged the audience with his funny storytelling.

Following the theme of the book, he then gave the children funny hats to wear, including a pineapple hat, a woolly hat and a birthday cake hat. The children were already giggling at each other in their hats but when a telephone hat was suddenly placed on each head and funny sound effects were heard (imagine ringing sounds followed by a voice gabbing), they roared with laughter.

Next, Kev spoke about his earlier book B is for Blobfish, a unique A-Z book teaching readers about less well-known animals. Kev showed some real pictures of the unusual animals featured in his book, such as sea-dwelling creature, an Olm.
Finally, Kev showed everyone how to make animal pictures, demonstrating, as the children copied.

The workshop was interactive as workshops should be, but it was also a broad range of activities and the children’s (and grown-ups) attentions were held throughout.
It was great to meet you, Kev! Find out more about Kev here @andonart
